Nine Telecom are pleased to announce the availability of FTTP Fibre broadband into the Nine product portfolio. Initially we will be keeping the offering very simple with one speed – 80Mbps downstream and 20Mbps upstream with totally unlimited usage.
FTTP provides a fibre optic connection all the way from the telephone exchange to your premises, whereas traditional Fibre Broadband or FTTC (Fibre-to-the-Cabinet) is a fibre connection to your local on-street cabinet, then a copper connection from the cabinet to your premises. FTTP’s 100% fibre connection offers superfast speeds and improves the performance of your internet connection.
While the availability footprint of FTTP is growing weekly, it is much more limited than FTTC Fibre broadband which is available (at the time of writing – July 2016) at 4,500 exchanges, 74,000 cabinets and has passed 25 million UK premises.
